Beringer Merlot

Beringer Merlot – winery site

Beringer Melot 13

Beringer’s Merlot is a perfectly fine Merlot.  Like all Beringer products it a simple go to wine.  There is nothing unusual about it.  No strange or exciting flavors, but no horrid flavors either.

If you do not know what to get this one is worthy of serving to your guests.

I give this one a 4/5.

A3 Red Blend

A3 Merlot

A3 Merlot 1

Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone that is the A3 red blend.  This is a California blend designed for Anyone to drink Anytime and Anywhere.

Needless to say I liked this particular wine.  It isn”t offensive in anyway.  It is just a very drinkable wine.  It doesn’t have the dryness of merlots or the oddness of pinot noir.  It isn’t super sweet.  It just is good.

Should you serve this to guests, yes.  Any guest should enjoy this wine.  It will not overly impress that guest, but anyone else will enjoy it.

I will give this one a 4/5.  A high 4 out of 5.

Momentos Merlot

Momentos, Merlot

The initial taste of this merlot is ok and smooth.  There is a slight dryness to it.  This dryness becomes more and more dry with every sip.  The dryness is on the front of the tongue apposed to the back of the throat.  It is odd.

Momentos Merlot 3

The taste is Okay.  It is not my favorite Merlot.

I give this one a 3/5.

It is drinkable, but not great at all.  It isn’t bad either.  It just isn’t very good.

Markham Merlot

Markham Merlot

I thought I had grabbed my last Pinot when I started drinking this Merlot.  It tasted a lot more like a Merlot than a Pinot.  It took me three days to realize it actually was a Merlot.

This Merlot has a slight dry taste, but doesn’t make you thirsty at all.  It pairs perfectly with red meat.  You want to eat it with a meal.

Markham Merlot 13

I really enjoyed this wine.  I only drank one glass at a time so I do not know the consequences of multiple glasses.  Based on the taste and feeling of one glass I would assume more would not be any issue.

This is a nice relaxing wine.  It has a perfect Merlot taste.  It is a well done.  Despite the slight dryness there are really no negatives about this wine.

I would definitively serve this at dinner.  In fact I think it is a great idea if steak is on the menu.

I would give this wine a 4/5.

Smith and Forge Hard Cider

Smith and Forge Hard Cider

Hard ciders can be amazing or OK.  Smith and Forge is pretty good.  It comes in a can and drinking one of these is all you need to relax.  It isn’t overly sweet.  I cannot personally chug this particular hard cider, but it is very drinkable.

Smith & Forge 4

If you want to serve something that will appeal to a wide range of individuals I think this particular hard cider should hit the spot.  It is easy enough to drink that even your finickiest friend will have one.  It is also bold enough to satisfy your manly friend that would prefer a beer.

Overall Smith and Forge has a really good flavor to it.  It is easy to drink, but not too easy.  If you are looking for a little more from your hard cider I suggest trying this one.

This wine was also recommended to me by the wine clerk as one that she really likes.  She was correct in stating that this is a good wine.

This is a very drinkable wine.  It is also a rather simple wine.

It should be OK to serve for dinner.

I give this wine a 4/5 score.

Mount Warren Pinot Noir

Mount Warren Pinot Noir

Mount Warren bottle

Mount Warren is my new favorite Pinot Noir.  It is so smooth and easy to drink.  It has a nice flavor to it.  I think it might be better than King’s Estate.

Honestly when I started drinking this wine I fell in love with it.

The bottle has a twist top which is very convenient for taking to a party.  This wine has nothing bad about it.  It is good on day one and is equally as good up to a week later.

I would serve this at a dinner party.

I give this one a 5/5.

Les Brebis Pinot Noir

Les Brebis Pinot Noir

Les Brebis label

This Pinot Noir was recommended to me by the woman at the wine shop.  It is one of her favorites and she was right to recommend it.  It is a good pinot out of the Oregon area.

It has a pleasant flavor.  I enjoyed this pinot quite a bit.  It is a normal pinot noir.  It isn’t unbelievably good, but it is also not bad at all.

I would serve this one at dinner.

I give this pinot a 4/5.

Conte Priola Pinot Noir

Conte Priola Pinot Noir

Conte Priola bottle

This wine is an explosion of flavor and none of them are harsh or bitter or bad.  I was so impressed by this wine because it wasn’t average.  It didn’t overdue it.  It was just an exciting wine.

This wine is also very easy to drink.  I wouldn’t describe this wine as smooth, but only because the flavors make it so much more than that.  Yes, it goes down easy.  Yes you will want several glasses.

Serve this wine at your dinner party and your guests will be impressed.

I give this one a 5/5.

Steelhead Vineyards Pinot Noir

Steelhead Vineyards Pinot Noir

This wine kicked my butt, but it did not call me names.

The aroma of Steelhead Pinot Noir is divine once you allow the wine to breathe.  It is the kind of smell that says, this will be a good wine.

The wine is smooth, but not overly smooth.  There is a hint of dryness to it and something that my pallet does not like.  I am sure that whatever that hint, that flavor is that my body did not like is exactly what started the room spinning on my second glass.

That is right, only two glasses of this wine and I couldn’t see straight.  Fortunately I somehow managed to avoid a hangover, but what happened?

Based on taste, texture, and flavor I would say this is a great wine.  Based on how it treated me I am leery to try it again.

I will give this wine a 3/5 for now.  Maybe I will try again and be able to up that rating to a 4.
