Naked Riesling

Naked Riesling

I believe that this Riesling was very good the first few times I had it.  Good enough that we bought several bottles.  I recall it being smooth and not too sweet or bitter.  Perhaps on the level of a cabinet.

One thing that I must state is that this wine should not be stored in a sun room.  No wine should ever be stored in a room that turns into a greenhouse everyday.  This made my last experience with this wine not very good.

That being said I do think that this wine is a very good wine.  There is nothing wrong with the flavor.  It is very smooth and drinkable as any good Riesling should be.  It isn’t amazing, but it is good.

This wine would pare well with fish and pork.  Pork maybe even better than the fish.  I would definitely serve this wine to guests.

I would rate this wine a 4/5.

Left Coast Cellars Pinot Noir

Left Coast Cellars Cali’s Cuvee Pinot Noir

This wine was suggested to me as a smooth wine from Oregon.  Two words that will always peak my interest when speaking about Pinot Noir wines, smooth and Oregon.

The wine seller was right that this is a good wine.  It is not too expensive, fifteen to twenty range.  It was fairly smooth with only an ever so slight bitterness.  The flavor was in no way overwhelming and not cumulative.  For me any negative flavors tend to come out and start to overwhelm me the more I drink.  This wine was just as good with each sip, if not better.

This is an interesting wine to have in your cellar.  I kind of wonder if this one wouldn’t be better a little aged.  It tasted like it had potential.

This particular wine was estate grown and bottled which should mean they used their own grapes and did not mass purchase those grown somewhere else.  This gives you an idea of the quality of the estate.  You generally try to put your best wines in bottles that you announce that you grew the grapes.

Overall I would give this wine a 4/5 rating.  Have no fear serving this wine at a dinner party.

Luc Pirlet – Pinot Noir

Luc Pirlet – Pinot Noir

Luc Pirlet is a French Pinot Noir.  It has a twist top which is very convenient.  The pour isn’t too dark.

Luc Pirlet Pinot Noir bottle

The initial smell is intense and dark or rich in nature.  This is a good wine.  I little bitter, but nothing harsh about it.  I would recommend it.  My later thoughts were, this is a really good wine.

I would give this wine a 4/5.

Momentos – Pinot Noir

Momentos – Pinot Noir

This is my new favorite glass of wine a day wine.  It is so good and not too expensive.  It is smooth and you can drink a few glasses if you want.  There are no ill side effects.

Momentos Pinot Noir bottle

This is a well made wine.  It is a Chile wine.  They make good wines there.  They seem to really know what they are doing.

I am giving this wine a 5/5, mostly on the drink-ability scale.

Angeline – Pinot Noir

Angeline – Pinot Noir

This is an excellent pinot noir.  This is not as good as the Annabella, but if you pick it up when you think you are getting the other wine you will not be terribly disappointed.

Angeline pinot noir bottle

It has a great flavor.  It is very smooth.  This is a very drinkable wine.

Try it.

I give this wine a 5/5.

La Delizia – Pinot Noir

La Delizia – Pinot Noir

My initial impressions of this wine is excellent and not harsh.  I very drinkable wine.  This particular wine is not good with chocolate at all.  This is a twist top bottle which makes it easy to take places.

La Delizia

It is an Italian wine and Estate bottled which often means the Estate’s best grapes will go into this wine.  One can only hope that the grapes are good.

I had this wine again the other night.  Different year I think, and I have to say I really enjoyed it.  Two glasses and I was feeling fine.  I do not think I would suggest more than that, but the next day I felt good.

It has an intense flavor to it, but it isn’t a bite, just an intense flavor.  I can understand why I wouldn’t like this wine with chocolate.  It would have brought out the bitterness with the sweet paring with the wine.  I would highly suggest this wine to anyone who comes across it.

I would say this is a strictly serve with red meat kind of wine.  Finish it before you start in on any deserts or anything sweet.

Overall I would give this wine a 4/5 rating.

Five Branches – Pinot Noir

Five Branches – Pinot Noir

This is a California wine done right.  The taste is smooth and delightful.  There is nothing bad about this wine.  This might be one of my favorite everyday drinking wines.  You can have a glass at the end of the day to take the edge off or to complement your dinner.

This is not an overly expensive wine and not super cheap either.

I would give this wine a 5/5.

Five Branches Pinot Noir

King Estate – Pinot Noir

King Estate – Pinot Noir, greatest pinot noir in the world!!

Ok, maybe just the best I have ever had.  Although it is not an everyday drinking wine from a price standpoint it isn’t that expensive.  It is in the $20 – $30 range.

Smooth, unbelievably smooth with every sip.  The flavor is not intense or overwhelming in any way.  It also isn’t weak.  It is simply good.  If all wine tasted like this no one would drink anything else.

I like to age my King Estate bottles for a few years, mostly because I feel like I should only drink them on special occasions or give them as gifts.  I look forward to the day I can bring a bottle as a dinner party gift.  The older a wine is doesn’t always translate into a better wine so remember this.  Wine is for drinking.

dusty bottle of King Estate Pinot Noir

Have a bottle of King Estate Pinot Noir in your wine cellar or cabinet and find an occasion to drink it at least once every few years.  Then replace it.

This wine is definitely a 5/5 wine.

King’s Estate Pinot Gris

King Estate Pinot Gris bottle

King’s Estate – Pinot Gris

Awful, truly one of the worst wines I have had that hadn’t turned to vinegar.  I tried 2 different bottles just to make sure it wasn’t a bad bottle or just me.  King’s Estate has a fantastic Pinot Noir, but this Pinot Gris is horrid.

Seriously, do not buy this particular wine.  I cannot understand how one company can make 2 wines on the opposite ends of the spectrum, but as much as their Pinot Noir is great, their Pinot Gris is terrible.

I poured this wine out and I suspect you would too.

1/5 stars on the Linda Scale.

Do not serve this wine to anyone.

R and R

Not a very good wine.

2/5 stars on the Linda Scale

This wine has a slight bite, but somehow it is completely ok.  It is probably just a bit dry.  1 glass is ok, but 2 glasses is a bit much.

Overall I would not recommend this wine.  It isn’t something you can fully enjoy.  You would not want to serve it to guests since you would need to cut them off after one glass.
