Prime, DVD

Prime, 2005

Prime 3

I absolutely do not understand why this movie is named Prime.  It is a great name, but I always think it is a movie about a mathematician until I start watching it.

Rafi, Uma Thurman, is a recent divorce and starts to date the much younger David, Bryan Greenberg.  We get to hear about some of their relationship in Rafi’s visits to her therapist, Meryl Streep.

The dynamic of the younger man and older woman relationship takes some extremely funny turns.  This is a very enjoyable movie.  You will laugh some and cringe a little, but in a good way.

I would give this movie a 4/5.

He’s Just Not That Into You, DVD

He’s Just Not That Into You, 2009

he's just not that into you 3

All of the silly things women tell themselves about a guy, all of the excuses they make up come down to just one thing.  He’s just not that into you.  If a guy wants to see you he will make it happen.

Is that the truth of the matter or is there more to it?

We follow the friendship of a hopeless woman and a guy who treat women as if they do not matter to him.  Will he teach her the truth about guys?

I liked this film quite a bit.  Who can’t relate to wishful thinking and hearing all of the excuses?  It is a film you can easily relate to.

I give this one a 4/5.

Letters to Juliet, DVD

Letters to Juliet, 2010

Letters to Juliet 5

Set in Verona, Italy, woman write to Juliet.  Sophia reads one of these letters and decides to help the author to find her love.  She travels with the author of the letter who is now 50 years older than when she wrote it.  Along for the ride is the woman’s hot grandson.

Along the way there is tension between the grandson and Sophia.  Sophia thinks she is watching a love story 50 years in the making, but the reality is that she might be part of one herself.

Overall this story is a little light.  The love stories are a bit unromantic.  I do like the older love story.  It feels more real.

I give this one a 3/5.

It is watchable, but not something you will want to see over and over again.

Advice From a Caterpillar, DVD

Advice From a Caterpillar, 1999

This movie is not for everyone.  It is lower budget and the story is not for everyone.

Two friends living in New York are navigating love.  The male friend has a boyfriend, but there is a catch.  His boyfriend also likes girls and is having urges.

He suggests that his boyfriend and his best friend hook up to satisfy both of their needs.  This is never a good idea.

Now how will this relationship end?  Who will ultimately end up with the boy?

I personally enjoyed this movie, but I still  only give it a 3/5 overall.
